Charles A. "Chuck" Tamuleviz is a trial attorney at McLaughlinQuinn defending corporations and individuals in state and federal investigations involving criminal tax matters, white-collar criminal defense, and complex civil matters. His seasoned judgment and strategic counsel are based on his decades of criminal and civil litigation experience, numerous jury trials in federal and state courts and extensive experience in the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Rhode Island.
Chuck’s practice focuses on the representation of individuals and businesses in criminal and complex civil matters—including white-collar criminal defense, grand jury investigations, administrative investigations, internal corporate investigations, criminal tax investigations, criminal ERISA investigations, Department of Labor wage investigations, and Taft-Hartley investigations.
For fourteen years, Chuck was a prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice, including nine years with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Rhode Island. He oversaw sensitive and complex federal trials and grand jury investigations involving allegations of public corruption, mail and wire fraud, income tax fraud, health care fraud, bank fraud and investment fraud. Chuck’s background allows him to provide a big-picture perspective for his clients thereby enabling him to protect their interests by advising them on strategies to stay ahead of risks they face. Chuck provides an objective assessment of the severity of possible violations, the likely response from government investigators and prosecutors and a plan to mitigate client exposure and potential damage to their reputation and business.

Representative Matters:
- Represented a dentist who was the target of an IRS criminal investigation, which resulted in the criminal investigation being closed without a prosecution recommendation.
- Represented several unions and related entities in a federal grand jury investigation of alleged violations of the Taft-Hartley Act and related statutes, which resulted in no charges being brought against any client.
- Represented the principal owner of an ambulance company that was the target of a federal grand jury Medicare fraud investigation, which resulted in no criminal charges being brought against the client.
- Represented a large provider of health care services that was the target of a federal False Claims Act investigation, which resulted in no criminal charges being brought and a satisfactory civil settlement for the client that did not include a corporate integrity agreement.
- Represented a correctional officer who was charged with felony assault with serious bodily injury, which was dismissed by the Court at the close of the prosecution’s case.
